Trent Boult Reaches 300 T20 Wickets
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], May 2: Trent Boult, the fast bowler for Mumbai Indians (MI), marked a significant achievement by claiming his 300th T20 wicket on Friday.
This milestone was reached during an Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur.
In the match, the experienced New Zealand pacer, known for his wicket-taking ability in the powerplay, showcased his skills despite conceding some runs. Boult's bowling figures stood at 3 wickets for 28 runs in just 2.1 overs, with an economy rate of 12.90.
Although he faced some challenges, including giving away a couple of sixes to Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second over, Boult quickly bounced back by dismissing the young opener. He also took the wicket of Nitish Rana, who was caught by Tilak Varma while attempting a pull shot. Boult capped off his performance by claiming the last wicket of Jofra Archer, who was caught by his fellow pacer, Jasprit Bumrah.
With 302 wickets in 257 T20 matches, Boult boasts an impressive average of 25.10, with his best bowling figures being 4/13 and an economy rate of 8.05. He becomes the third New Zealand bowler to reach the 300-wicket milestone, following Tim Southee (343 wickets) and Ish Sodhi (310 wickets).

In the match itself, MI opted to bat first after RR won the toss. The decision quickly backfired as openers Ryan Rickelton (61 runs off 38 balls, including seven fours and three sixes) and Rohit Sharma (53 runs off 36 balls, with nine fours) put together a formidable partnership of 116 runs. Following their dismissals, Suryakumar Yadav (48* off 23 balls, with four boundaries and three sixes) and captain Hardik Pandya (48* off 23 balls, with six fours and a six) added 94 runs, propelling MI to a total of 217/2 in 20 overs. Maheesh Theekshana and Riyan Parag each took a wicket for RR.
During the chase, RR struggled against MI's formidable bowling attack, collapsing to 47/5 early on. Jofra Archer was the top scorer for RR with 30 runs off 27 balls, but the team was ultimately bowled out for just 117 runs in 16.1 overs, losing by a staggering 100 runs.
Karn Sharma (3/23) and Boult (3/28) were the standout bowlers for MI, while Jasprit Bumrah also contributed with an impressive spell of 2/15. Hardik Pandya added another wicket to his tally.
Ryan Rickelton was named 'Player of the Match' for his outstanding performance.
